A couple weeks ago Sydni and I got to travel to Round Top, Texas for the biggest Antique Flea Market in America.
I wish that everyone reading this could share in the true magic and joy that is a stay at the
Wander Inn. People talk about going to Disney World when they're on top of the world, but I say come to the
Wander Inn to feel like you will have a wonderful experience. Nestled into the small town of Round Top, TX right behind the
Junk Gypsy store property. You'll find the
Wander Inn in its colorful and peaceful glory. I couldn't imagine a more perfect place for Sydni and I to lay down our dream-filled heads and wake our wild-eyed, Enneagram Type 7 hearts.
Our room was an oasis, full of eclectic western elements and Native American influences. The little details found throughout are what made the Wander Inn feel like a life-giving place to us. The old record player in our room, the soaps and bath salts, and the warm biscuit delivery that we looked forward to each morning (AMAZING, melt-in-your-mouth, to die for biscuits) made us feel at home.
Gypsyville, where
Wander Inn and the
Junk Gypsy store call home, is settled on green pastures where longhorn cattle graze. From the porch where we enjoyed our coffee each morning, I witnessed a longhorn giving birth. A kiss from God as the sun rose and my soul felt a sense of home. I love those moments when God makes His great presence known, and as I sat a quiet spectator, this miracle revealed to me that I was in the exact place I was meant to be.
After fueling up on homemade biscuits, we made our way to the Round Top which is 7 miles of antique vendors. Our new friend, Hans from
More Than Antiques, is an antique dealer from the Netherlands. Designers fly in from everywhere for a look at his French architectural doors and other European treasures. We brought home 5 French bread boards that may or may not still have baguette crumbs on them.
It was such a pleasure seeing my friend Karri from
The Cotton Shed and her gorgeous display at
Marburger Farms. We could've spent all week here loving on the antiques, the elaborate displays and the amazing people we got to talk to. I highly recommend renting a golf cart, which is how we got around and were able to see so much in only 2 days.
On our last night in Round Top, we got to attend the
Junk Gypsy Junk-o-Rama Prom at
Zapp Hall, a twice annual event that goes on during both of Round Top's Antique Weeks. People were all dressed up in retro prom dresses and vintage western wear, dancing and carrying on all night under the bright Texas sky. It was something I'm so happy we could be a part of. Sydni put her new boots to the test, and danced all night long in Disco Alley. SO MUCH FUN. Let's be honest we checked back into our oasis of a Inn by 11 pm. That for us is all night long. lol Thank you to the Junk Gypsy girls for helping us cross another one off of our bucket lists!
One more sleep at the Wander Inn, and Sydni and I headed to Ennis, TX for my speaking event at
Hoefer House. We admired the cotton fields as we made our way back toward Dallas, laughing and reminiscing about the whirlwind of good times that we had in Round Top.
We were welcomed into Ennis with the warmest hospitality and a rooftop dinner - thank you Amelia and Erin. The speaking event was at
Hoefer House Bed & Breakfast, which is also where we had the privilege of staying. The home has been so beautifully restored while holding onto its old charm and rustic roots. It was the perfect sweet and reunivating place to stay after a few days on the go.
I was looking forward to sharing my knowledge and building up other entrepreneurs alongside Ryan from
Texas Forever Farmhouse, and I was so pleased with the turnout. Sydni and I had so much fun speaking together, sharing what we know and what works for us at
Farmhouse Frocks. We enjoyed putting all of our energy toward teaching rather than hosting and teaching as we've done in the past. We feel called to pursue other workshop opportunities like this one and are excited to expand in that area in 2020!
