First of all, thank you to all of your friendly faces that stopped to say hello and shop our booth at the Country Living Fair this past weekend. The Country Living Fair at Stone Mountain Park is one of our favorite shows. The sweet, southern hospitality is just one reason why we love you so much. We put so much work into preparing for these shows, and getting to see so many of our Farmhouse Frocks faithful every year is what makes it worthwhile.
Another reason we love this show so much is because Stone Mountain Park is such an amazing venue, and it's always held an extra special place in my heart. Five years ago, "MORE FAITH THAN FEAR" found us in Atlanta for the Country Living Fair after only 3 weeks of being in business. We had no clue what to expect, but we went for it anyway. We love coming down to Atlanta and seeing some of the same faces from that very first show. Many of them remember us by the vintage bras we strung in the trees, (as you can see in the above picture) which was not really in the plan, but people loved it! I mainly remember coming home and throwing the bras away, saying we were never doing another show. Little did I know where we would end up and that all the hard work it took to get ready for the show was worth it. From the 12 Rubbermaid containers of Frocks we brought with us that first year, we made enough money to start this business.
Fast forward to 2019, and I never could've imagined where this business would take us. We've upped our display game a bit since the vintage bras, and we feel a little bit more prepared every show (just a little bit - it's never easy!) We found these angel wings in Round Top, and Theodore here was brought home from The Found Cottage Mercantile. We had a good run with Theodore, but he gained a new home when someone bought him from us at the Atlanta show this past weekend. Check out Frocking Around Round Top With Farmhouse Frocks to see what other treasures we found in Round Top!
This chandelier and pillar are usually nestled into our Studio displays at home, but they just begged to come along to Atlanta. We'd bring the whole Studio if we could, but I feel blessed to be able to take Farmhouse Frocks on the road and still maintain regular business hours at home.
After long set-up and show days, the girls and I loved staying at the Evergreen Marriott. We had a lovely view of Stone Mountain Park while we sipped our coffee and prayed over the busy day ahead (and for the weather to cooperate). The show was great, but I'd looove to take a vacation here!
Our prayers were answered, as they are again and again. The weather forecast called for a 90% chance of rain all weekend, and it only sprinkled for less than 5 minutes. It was truly a miracle from God that made believers out of even the most sceptic. We were so elated that after placing our worries onto the Lord rather than dwelling on them, we saw His work be done and our worries go away.
The past weekend was crazy busy, tons of fun, and thankfully dry! My friend and one of our favorite loyal customers, Nancy Fuller of Fuller Farmer, stopped by to visit us. I always enjoy the times I get to connect with her as she knows a thing or two about staying busy too.
Even when times are busy, there's still always time for shopping. I bought these cubbies for our new shipping area, and I'm so excited to use them as organization. Watch our Instagram stories to see how we display them in the Studio.
I love making my way around the fair, admiring the wonderful displays and talking to the wonderful people. My friends at Rose and Grace Market and Gilded Sparrow are great examples of both. I know not everyone is as lucky as I am to work in an industry with such a supportive community surrounding them, and the Country Living Fair always reminds me of that.
We're so thankful for the connections that we've made not only this year, but over the past 5 years. You don't quite understand how much work goes into preparing for a show until you actually do it, and it's a blessing to be surrounded by people that share your passion for design and networking. We've got some exciting things coming up from the people we met and interactions we had at Stone Mountain Park, and we can't wait to share them with you!!!
